Right, just thought I’d let you know I have little time these days to do some game archive format research, especially on the new requests coming in at the forum. This is due to a work overload at my daily job, and time I have to spend on the upcoming release of MexCom. Plus there’s plenty of other stuff that takes up my time. Please have patience with me, I will be back at full strength after the next release. Promise.

So here’s the big news I was talking about! “Xentax founded? Wasn’t it already founded way back in 1989? ” Indeed it was. But, on monday the 26th of june 2006, we have founded Xentax officially. From now on, we are part of the Xentax Foundation, a non-profit organisation that aims to enhance the quality of internet for those in need of it. For example, we will aim to host high quality websites for a ludicrous low price for those projects deemed priority by the board.
We will aim to support cool projects by people with low cashflow so they can have a place to present their work. We have many more ideas, and suggestions are welcome. Our scope is broad! The Xentax Foundation will also be the fundament of game archive resource modding, with MexCom, the Xentax forum and the Xentax WIKI opting to become the spearpoints in this area of internet-based research. Xentax was founded by Mr.Mouse AKA Mike Zuurman (Chairman) and Captain Corny AKA Arjan Dikhoff (Secretary) according to Dutch law (KvK 02094186).

Yep.sir.cr ! The Xentax Game Archive Format Wiki is back up after only 14 hours downtime, thanks to our lovely host who had to run some scripts by our request. We have now installed Mediawiki 1.6. So, time for some hardcore BMS tagging.

Indeed it has! We have done away with the old frontpage and replaced it with this excellent blogsystem! Any news, code, info, BMS scripts, tools, music and the like, it will all be found right here from now on! In due time Captain will redo the layout to make it look even better. Now, make yourself a nice cup of coffee, sit back and browse our news archives to see history unfold! It will bring a smile to your face, brighten your cloudy day and make you feel good about the world! Honest.

We are currently working on an update of the Xentax Game Resoure Archive WIKI code. So, during this time the site is down. We have to discuss these matters with our host, and hope to be up and running soon once again. The reason for this update is A. to have the latest Mediawiki code and B. to be able to tag MultiEx Scripts in the future so MexCom can use scripts people post at the WIKI as well. More on that later.

By request I created a Binary MultiEx Script for MexCom so a user could open a certain caw.bin file.
Here´s the script in uncompiled form:
Set Size Long 2532 ;
GoTo EOF 0 ;
SavePos ASI 0 ;
GoTo SOF 0 ;
Do ;
SavePos FO 0 ;
Set FN String .DCOM ;
Get F String 0 ;
String F += FN ;
Log F FO Size 0 0 ;
Math FO += Size ;
GoTo FO 0 ;
While FO < ASI ;
And here it is in BMS: bin.bms

See the original request at the forum here:

“I only used one actual PICT file to figure out the format.
So, if some PICT files don´t work, visit the MultiEx Commander forum.
