Finally, after more than a year, we release the latest installment of MexCom to the public. As other activities had priority for quite a while, users of MexCom had to wait, but now there’s the new version. And what has it got to offer? I think it best to just show the readme for all to see. If you don’t care and just want to get it, hop on to the download page. Otherwise: Read the rest of this entry »

The current issue of the Belgian PC games magazine PC Gameplay (October 2006) features MexCom! With the new release, 4.3.0, comes the Dutch language as optional language setting for the GUI. PC Gameplay was able to offer it to their Dutch-speaking readers exclusively before the rest of the world on September the 28th. Later today, we’ll release MexCom 4.3.0 to the public. Some quotes of their review of the new version: “MexCom uses a very simple user-interface that enables us to do much with just a few clicks“, “you always have a good overview of what’s going on“, “We were very positive about MexCom ‘s user-friendliness and support by its community“. Want to read the whole feature for yourself? Then rush out and buy the magazine!

Just a small teasing, yet informative post that the release of version 4.3 of MexCom is imminent. The public release is scheduled for the 1st of october. MexCom 4.3 will feature wiki ( http://wiki.xentax.com ) based game support, new games, new load archive dialog, new additions to the MexScipt, running non-compiled MexScript of game archives and more. So be sure to get it when it’s released. As the new version will make more use of our server, and a lot of effort was put into it, the minimum donation required to be able to make use of all advanced features will rise to a fee of $10. The unlocked features will continue to be available in up to three subsequent releases of MexCom!

How about some original ways to support MultiEx Commander, Chas and DavehI must have thought, and get a MexCom key in the process. First came Chas, a 16 year old young man from Michican, USA, who’s racing his bikes (4 of ’em) at national level, and an absolute fan of MX vs ATV Unleashed (“and I happen to be quite good at it”). He races the B class, but plans on moving up to the A class next year. Check out some of his racing pics here. He then came up with an original idea to support MexCom. Read the rest of this entry »

I have put up a list of people that have proven their worth to the MultiEx project, in no order of importance. All others that participate, but are not mentioned, please don’t be mad. Just send a hitman, if you feel like it, but I couldn’t just reproduce the forum member list, now could I? All that help out are very important, so there! Click to go to the The Team page.

Regulator visitors of the Xentax boards must have come across the threads that discussed Metal Gear Solid game resource archives. Already in 2003, forum frequenter TheDyingInformant posted a request for MGS support in MexCom, that was continued in another thread to finally end up in the Metal Gear Solid 2 – Any luck? thread started by her in 2004. At the time, yours truly could not figure out most of the archive format, but that last thread has seen a lot of people jumping in to try and solve the case. One of the key persons there has got to be Turfster. Read the rest of this entry »

Launch back to the Wing Commander universe and join the conflict between Earth and Kilrah once more. Those of you old enough to have been there when the Origin’s Wing Commander games first came out on the Amiga and DOS systems (around 1990) may still get all excited when they hear that there’s a good chance to return to world of WC and kick some new Kilrah ass. Two mods for Freespace 2 and Homeworld 2 are showing good promise. Read the rest of this entry »

We all remember good ol’ Duke, right? You know, Duke….Nukem? Well, ever since the release of Duke 3D, mister Duke has been a legend. Unfortunately, 3D Realms have seriously made asolute arses of themselves with the Duke Nukem Taking Forever Vaporware. And yet, there is a strong Following of The Original Duke 3D. And this has produced some stunning mod results in the past. Today, I wish to turn your attention to Survival. And Build has never looked so good. Read the rest of this entry »

Regular visitors of our cybercatacombs may have noticed a few changes, other than just the site layout. A few days ago, we put up some Google ads on our Xentax WIKI, Forum and Frontpage. Some of you may wonder why. Well, as a Foundation, we rely on donations to exist. These ads offer just another means of putative income. At the moment the system is crawling ahead and shows a bunch of irrelevant ads. We are ensured that this will become better in the coming weeks. We have also posted a call for feedback on this matter in our MultiEx Game Request forum, so feel free to join the discussion. We are dedicated to the Game Modding community. Programming, games, and game file analysis are our prime interests!

Captain speaking here. I’ve updated the site with the new design. There’s a minor positioning issue with IE that has to do with something I missed while converting the HTML to WordPress templates. I can’t be bothered with it at this point, and will probably investigate the problem while riding the commuter train in the morning. I’ll fix it eventually. Also, the main text right margin is just a bit too narrow, which I’ll also fix.
Anyway, I think it looks pretty good and it’s one step towards some kind of unified design for the entire site. Comments and scathing critisism are welcome, although I doubt anyone cares. Either way, here it is!
EDIT: All issues fixed.
