Merge Game Extractor with MultiEx Commander!

October 11th, 2008 by Mr.Mouse

MexCom pluginZench had the fabulous idea of creating a plugin for MultiEx Commander that will allow you to use all Game Extractor formats as well! Game Extractor is written in Java, and in the main .JAR file you will find a lot of Plugin_xxx.class files. You can copy these to Game Extractor’s plugin directory using any good archiver, such as WinRAR. So, you do the following:

  1. Extract the Plugin_xxx.class files from Game Extractor.JAR to GE’s Plugin folder
  2. Copy Zench’s GEPlugins.mxp file to MultiEx Commander’s data\rpm folder
  3. Delete Rahly’s pluginmanager.dll in windows’ system32 folder, and copy Rahly’s new version in MultiEx Commander’s root folder (where you find mc32.exe).

Done! You can now start MultiEx Commander like usual, which will take a little more time, but you will be rewarded with now having over 3000 archives supported! Note that you do not have to have GE fully installed, you just need the class files and,of course, Jave VM installed. Excellent work by Zench and this will be implemented in a new version of MultiEx Commander. Download the stuff here: Zench’s first version of GEPlugins for MexCom
