Turfster’s Solid Game Tools

Thursday, July 20th, 2006 by Mr.Mouse

Turfster's Solidus Works!Regulator visitors of the Xentax boards must have come across the threads that discussed Metal Gear Solid game resource archives. Already in 2003, forum frequenter TheDyingInformant posted a request for MGS support in MexCom, that was continued in another thread to finally end up in the Metal Gear Solid 2 – Any luck? thread started by her in 2004. At the time, yours truly could not figure out most of the archive format, but that last thread has seen a lot of people jumping in to try and solve the case. One of the key persons there has got to be Turfster. (more…)

Revisit Wing Commander!

Monday, July 17th, 2006 by Mr.Mouse

Wing Commander 1Launch back to the Wing Commander universe and join the conflict between Earth and Kilrah once more. Those of you old enough to have been there when the Origin’s Wing Commander games first came out on the Amiga and DOS systems (around 1990) may still get all excited when they hear that there’s a good chance to return to world of WC and kick some new Kilrah ass. Two mods for Freespace 2 and Homeworld 2 are showing good promise. (more…)

Survival, Build has never looked so good

Duke Nukem 3DWe all remember good ol’ Duke, right? You know, Duke….Nukem? Well, ever since the release of Duke 3D, mister Duke has been a legend. Unfortunately, 3D Realms have seriously made asolute arses of themselves with the Duke Nukem Taking Forever Vaporware. And yet, there is a strong Following of The Original Duke 3D. And this has produced some stunning mod results in the past. Today, I wish to turn your attention to Survival. And Build has never looked so good. (more…)

“Ad”ding game mod support

Thursday, July 6th, 2006 by Mr.Mouse

Regular visitors of our cybercatacombs may have noticed a few changes, other than just the site layout. A few days ago, we put up some Google ads on our Xentax WIKI, Forum and Frontpage. Some of you may wonder why. Well, as a Foundation, we rely on donations to exist. These ads offer just another means of putative income. At the moment the system is crawling ahead and shows a bunch of irrelevant ads. We are ensured that this will become better in the coming weeks. We have also posted a call for feedback on this matter in our MultiEx Game Request forum, so feel free to join the discussion. We are dedicated to the Game Modding community. Programming, games, and game file analysis are our prime interests!

Site design updated

Monday, July 3rd, 2006 by Captain

Captain speaking here. I’ve updated the site with the new design. There’s a minor positioning issue with IE that has to do with something I missed while converting the HTML to WordPress templates. I can’t be bothered with it at this point, and will probably investigate the problem while riding the commuter train in the morning. I’ll fix it eventually. Also, the main text right margin is just a bit too narrow, which I’ll also fix.

Anyway, I think it looks pretty good and it’s one step towards some kind of unified design for the entire site. Comments and scathing critisism are welcome, although I doubt anyone cares. Either way, here it is!

EDIT: All issues fixed.

Game archive research slowed

Monday, July 3rd, 2006 by Mr.Mouse

Right, just thought I’d let you know I have little time these days to do some game archive format research, especially on the new requests coming in at the forum. This is due to a work overload at my daily job, and time I have to spend on the upcoming release of MexCom. Plus there’s plenty of other stuff that takes up my time. Please have patience with me, I will be back at full strength after the next release. Promise.
